How to apply for a baby passport

passportBaby Passport

If you want to travel abroad soon after your baby is born, get cracking with a passport. The UK Passport Office says it could take three week for it to arrive but over the summer there was a big backlog, so get started early.

You’ll need your completed application form, baby’s birth certificate (the original – copies are not accepted), your own and your partner’s passports and two identical photos which must meet the guidelines; see www.gov.uk/photos-for-passports.

One of these must be signed by a professional, such as a doctor or teacher who knows you and your baby. You can get help in making sure the forms are correctly filled put by using the Check And Send service at Post Offices. It is valid for five years.
