Britax Römer Holiday Stroller Review

B Loves: Lightweight, folds very small and perfect for summer trips

Weighing just 5kg, this is a simple and lightweight stroller that has been specifically designed for holidays – the clue’s in the name!

Seat: The seat is forward facing and is made from a lightweight, thin fabric that will prevent your child from over-heating. The sides are mesh, which has the same effect and the seat panel above the head is mesh too, to allow for a good flow of air when you’re pushing in hot weather. There is an adjustable five point harness to keep your little one safe and the neat little hood protects to 50+ UPF.

There is no footrest, which might make it a little uncomfortable for long journeys perhaps but you won’t notice on a short trip. It does not recline, so it should not be your main pushchair especially if you’re using it for a very young baby or on longer trips but from six months up, it’s a great additional pushchair for trips. It will also carry your child up to three years, so later on it will come into its own when you have to make the pick-up run from nursery and they’re exhausted.

Chassis: It folds down to a very small size, so it’s very easy to stow it in the boot of your car. It’s also very easy to use on public transport as carrying it up and down stairs won’t be too difficult. The twin handles are easy to grip without slipping and are curved to make them ergonomically comfortable. They are not adjustable and are a good height (102cm) for all but the tallest of pushers. Folding is simple; just push the button between the handles, fold the bar downwards, then pull up on the collars under each handle to release the lock and it folds forwards and down, with a concertina action. When folded, there is a lock to keep it together. A carry strap means you can go straight up to the plane doors with your baby in your arms. It is just a bit too big for some plane lockers though so do check with your airline if you want to take it onboard. The brake is on the rear right wheels and just flips down for on and up for off. The storage basket under the seat is surprisingly large for such a tiny buggy and will hold up to 5kg.

You don’t have the option to add a car seat to this stroller but it’ not designed as a travel system. If you’re driving while on holiday, you’ll need to take your car seat with you or be sure the hire car you choose comes with a suitable model.

Wheels: Easy to steer on smooth surfaces, the wheels are small and solid, with the front wheels being able to swivel. It’s not designed for off-roading or very rough surfaces but will handles streets and airports with ease and also be easy to tip up onto curbs.

It comes in six colours: Cosmos Black, Flame Red, Steel Grey, Coral Peach, Ocean Blue and Aqua Green.

Extras: You can add a raincover and there’s also a travel bag, perfect for holidays.
