The organic toiletries brand is leading the pack when it comes to sustainable packaging

Green People has introduced new sustainable and plant-derived packaging for its products. This carbon-neutral alternative to fossil fuel packaging puts the company ahead of the game in being eco-friendly.

Green People has been searching for a more sustainable solution for its packaging. The company, which has always valued ethical viability, has been working hard towards creating packaging that represents those values.

Green People is one of the first companies to offer sun lotion that is safe for coral reefs and is also non-toxic to marine life. Now the company’s award-winning products are re-launching, with a new easy-wear formula, in plant-derived Sugar Cane packaging.

Ian Taylor of Green People says: “Green People is continually seeking alternative environmentally-positive packaging solutions as we maintain our endeavours to create a business that has minimal impact on the environment.”

A huge amount of modern plastic packaging is derived from non-renewable fossil fuels, which through the release of carbon dioxide contributes to global warming. Seeking out viable alternatives, Green People is looking to carbon-neutral Sugar Cane plastic, from plants farmed on sustainable land in Brazil.

This renewable raw material is planted far from any areas of rainforest, on land that is deemed of inferior quality for food production. Using this degraded pasture land helps soil to recover for future use as farmland.

Making the move away from fossil fuels is not where the benefits of Sugar Cane end. Whilst the plant is being cultivated, it captures CO2 so efficiently that Sugar Cane plastic is actually a carbon negative product. For every kg produced, 3.09 kgs of CO2 is removed from the air.

Green People’s full-size sun lotions are the first to feature this new packaging, with the brand looking to switch packaging where possible to recycled or renewably-sourced material by 2022.

The new sun care range includes:

  • Scent Free Facial Sun Cream SPF 30 –  £18.00 (50ml)
  • Scent Free Sun Lotion SPF 30 – £22.50 (200ml) / £15.00 (100ml)
  • Edelweiss Sun Lotion SPF 15 with Natural Tan Accelerator – £21.50 (200ml) / £14.00 (100ml) (Vegan Society Approved)
  • Organic Children Sun Lotion SPF 30 (Scent Free) – £19.00 (150ml)
  • Holiday Sun Starter Pack – £14.50
