Keeping your baby safe

Making sure your baby is protected is second nature

When you become a new parent, one of your first instincts is to protect your little one and keep them safe from harm. From their first cuddle with you to waving them off to College, you’ll want to ensure every moment is safe.

That’s why it’s so important that you choose the safest car seat to bring your baby on their first and most important journey by car – coming home from the hospital after they have been born. It’s not only a legal requirement to have an infant carrier for your baby’s birth, but it’s something you’ll want to ensure you have ticked off your ‘to do’ list well in advance of the birth itself.

Your child’s first car seat should be comfortable, should support them well in an ergonomic position and should grow as they grow. It should also conform to all safety standards. For younger children up to four years, it is now recommended that they travel rearward facing, which has been proven to be the safest position in the event of a crash.

The Silver Cross Dream infant carrier fits all these criteria. Although it was only launched last year, it’s already been awarded the highest “Very Good” safety rating by ADAC when used with the Dream i-Size Base. Not only that, but Dream was awarded “Good” when fitted with the vehicle’s adult seatbelt.

ADAC is an internationally recognised independent testing body, renowned for its rigorous approach to crash testing, so it means you can be sure that this car seat is the safest one around.

ADAC tests car seats in a number of ways, including front and side impact, all of which exceed standard European safety requirements.

The Silver Cross Dream is suitable from birth to around 12 months (40-85cm) and offers your baby the best in both comfort and safety. Your little one is kept safe with four layers of side impact protection and snuggled in the softest fabrics. The newborn insert is made from naturally anti-bacterial and breathable bamboo fabric. Bamboo is not only a sustainable fabric, but also has natural thermo-regulating properties that will keep your little one warm in cool weather and cool in the summer.

Inside the seat is a five-point safety harness with pads for the shoulders and lap. Finished in black and grey, the fabrics feel soft and gentle against your little one’s skin.

Dream clips effortlessly onto the Isofix base and can also be used with Silver Cross prams to create a handy Travel System.

The seat adjusts as your baby grows and has a five-position headrest and fully adjustable harness.

One thing that can confuse and worry parents is how to fit the car seat – and if it has been in the car for a while on the base and needs to be swapped to another car, they worry that they might not remember how to do it. Silver Cross has thought this through and has created a helpful mobile app that helps you fit the seat correctly every time. Simple and easy to use on your phone, the Car Safety Made Simple app means that you can follow an easy-to-use five step checklist to ensure that both the base and the seat are correctly installed for every journey you make with your baby.
