Lifft Slings Stretchy Wrap Review

B Loves: A well-priced stretch sling that can hold your baby in a comfortable upright position and there are no fiddly buckles or clips to get the hang of

If you’re a Mummy who loves the ring-style slings rather than the upright type, this may be the one for you. It’s made from 94% cotton and 6$ elastane that has the ability to stretch in two directions and all the slings are made in the UK, in Yorkshire in fact.

There are two sizes to choose from; regular or short. Though this may mean that if you and your partner have very different builds you’ll have to buy two, it does mean a better fit for you and it’s not too expensive anyhow. The regular will fit most people and the short is good for very short or petite people.

The sling will fit your baby from birth and it will still be comfortable when they are 15kg or around 33lbs. Keeping your baby close to you, it helps to promote bonding and can be a great help when you have a baby that won’t easily settle or that has colic or wind and benefits from being held more upright.

The wrap helps you distribute the weight of your baby across your torso, so it won’t pull or tug on any part of your body such as your shoulders or back. Your baby is held in an ergonomic position so that he can be comfortable and well supported.

Because the sling is made of such lightweight material, it can be folded up and popped into your bag or under the pushchair and it’s always handy for those times when you need to carry your baby or hold them close. It’s great for traveling too, as you can put it on as you’re about to get on a plane and can fold the pushchair before you get to the door of the plane and it’s also great for walks on the beach, in the woods or anywhere a pushchair can’t go.

It’s very easy to put on and there are instructions with pictures on Lifft’s website so you can try it out a few times to get it just right and of course, in the best position for you. Take the middle of the wrap with the logo in the centre of your chest, facing out. Wrap it around you to the back and pass both ends over your shoulders, crossing them at the back. Pass the ends under the fabric at the front and then take them back around your waist, finally tying them in a double knot at the front. This seems a little confusing at first but in just a couple of tries, we were getting it done quicker and quicker.

Next, you take your baby and hold them to your chest. You slip them into the piece of fabric across one shoulder, with one leg through and the fabric across the back of the knee. Repeat with the other side across the back of your baby and their other knee. This part of the process ensures your baby, legs are held in the best ‘frog leg’ position. Finally, take the piece that was first around your chest (you have lowered it to allow you to do the parts above) and pull it up snugly across your baby’s back. Make sure your baby’s head is always clear of fabric and that their nose and mouth are not pressed against the fabric or against you to keep their airways clear. Their head should be high enough for you to kiss it by bending your head.

It comes in six great colours; blue, plum, jade, black, grey and teal. The wrap is machine washable, helping you keep it looking good for ages.
