Mamas and Papas Urbo 2 Review

B Loves: The iconic wheel shape makes this easy to spot on the streets and its narrow width makes it the perfect shopping stroller

Mamas & Papas has updated its popular Urbo2 pushchair to be a compact city stroller. It now an upgraded footmuff, an insect net, a shade for naps on the go and improved brakes

Seat: The seat on the Urbo2 is a good size, comfy and well-padded and with a well-covering hood that will keep rain and sun off your baby. It has several recline positions including lie-flat, so it is suitable right from birth – though you can also add the carrycot (see below) and it can face the front or you. It is easy to recline one-handed and you can also click the seat on and off with ease, making it a breeze to swap it from to rear-facing or to remove it to add the carrycot. The leg rest can be adjusted too, so your child can always be comfy whether waking or sleeping. The bumper bar is covered with leatherette and opens from wither side with a simple click mechanism, making it easier to access the seat. The five-point harness has chest and crotch pads that match the pushchair’s fabric, giving it a luxe look and the harness is easy for the parent to use.

Carrycot: The carrycot is an additional extra, transforming the stroller into a pram and it is suitable from birth and offers the lie-flat position recommended by Paediatricians. It is roomy and yet feels cosy and is protected inside the hood and apron-  the latter of which has magnetic closures, making it quiet! No loud, ripping noise of Velcro! It has an air vent to ensure good flow of air inside the carrycot and a cushioned mattress. All fabric is UPF 50+ to protect in the sun. It weighs 6.6kg

Chassis: The chassis is compact and designed to be small, light and neat so as to be perfect for nipping around the shops and negotiating busy city streets. Whilst the shopping basket is not the largest, it is perfectly adequate and is covered with the same fabric as the pushchair, rather than being made from mesh. This will almost certainly make it more durable and of course it also adds to the luxe, all-matching look of the stroller. The chassis has a pleasing square shape and there’s an additional footplate on the front for little feet. The handle is easy to adjust for different height pushers – just unlock, take it to your desired height and lock again – and it is covered with a luxe-looking leatherette which makes it comfortable for the hands. Easy to fold, it is a neat size when folded and locks together, so it’s easy to lift into the boot of a car.

Wheels: The distinctive wheels are nippy and the front ones can be locked in place or swivel through 360 degrees. They offer one of the smallest turning circles of any pushchair.

Extras: The raincover is included in the price and so is the insect net that doubles as a sleep shade. You can buy as part of a set (with additional costs) which may include a car seat, cup holder, car seat adaptors and the carrycot.

It comes in several colours each season, currently Chestnut, Skyline Grey, Navy and a limited edition Paisley Rose.
