Phil and Teds Lobster Travel  Highchair Review

B Loves: Super compact and easy to clean

When you have a baby, it’s great to be able to get out and about, much as you used to before your little one came along. OK, it takes a little more planning and quite a lot more gear – so anything that helps and is compact and useful is always a bonus.

A good travel highchair is an excellent thing to spend some money on and if you can get one that is comfortable for your baby, super-portable and easy to clean, even better. The phil&teds Lobster is great for taking out for a quick café trip, a holiday, a visit to Grandma’s – in fact, it can go where you go.

The seat unit part of the highchair is deep and helps your baby to be able to sit upright, with the back and chest well supported and in a good position for eating. There’s an internal padded harness, so even the most wriggly of babies will be securely held in and the ‘lobster’ clamps will fit safely and securely onto almost any table or bench. The frame is strong yet lightweight and is made from aluminium, so it will last and last. The mechanism that clamps the chair to the table is a twist on, twist off arrangement that is quite easy for you to master but much harder for babies. You do have to make sure that the table is sufficiently heavy to be able to hold your baby without tipping.

The seat folds down into its own little travelling case and it weighs just 35 x 34 x 8cm. That’s the perfect size for slipping under the pushchair, into the changing bag, in the car boot – even your own handbag.

If you’ve ever been in a café and worried about the cleanliness of the highchairs they provide, taking your own is the best way forward. It’s also easy to clean. The fabric is wipe-clean and if it gets really mucky, it can be taken off the frame and hand washed. The removable tray is also easy to clean and can be put into the dishwasher.

Eating out with your baby is one of the very great pleasures of travel, so make sure your baby will be as comfortable as you. Your baby is held comfortable and securely with the four-point harness It can be wiped clean quickly and easily – you can even take the fabric off and hand washed it if it gets really mucky!
