Scoop by Brother Max Review

B Loves: easy to use and looks great

One of the first of the modern, stylish highchairs to appear on the UK market, the Scoop now has plenty of other companies playing homage to it but this is still one of the best.

Choose from a white or black base and seat with chrome trim and then add a cushion in one of six eye catching colours; aqua, red, grey, black, hot pink or lime. Some colours are exclusive to retailers, so check where you can buy your chosen one.

The Scoop is unusual in that it does not need a harness to keep your baby safely in the seat. Your baby is kept seated safely by the shape of the chair itself and the play tray, which slides in and out – out so that you can lift your baby in and out, and then in to fit snugly just near the baby’s stomach. The tray can be removed completely if you want your baby seated at the table with the rest of the family. It does, of course, mean that your baby is unable to escape from harness straps or undo it himself!

The seat has a comfortable, supportive shape that cradles your baby and helps them develop the torso, neck and back muscles for sitting and later for walking. The pad that you buy not only makes the seat look jolly but is soft and squidgy to make it comfortable. It is smooth and easy to clean, as is the rest of the seat. There is also a seat insert to use with very young babies and the seat can be raised or lowered through several heights, so it can fit at any table, counter or breakfast bar. You can also put it down to its lowest level and store it beneath a counter or the table, to keep it out of the way.

It can be turned to face any direction, through 360 degrees; baby can sit at the table while eating, then turn to watch you as you wash up. The seat and the play tray have smooth surfaces, with no corners or seams that could hold crumbs and it is very easy to clean.

Under the large, round base are smoothly running castors so that you can move it around when you need to, though you have to tip the seat slightly to engage them, meaning it won’t roll off on its own and your children can’t push it by mistake.

As your child grows you will still be able to use the seat; there’s a supportive footrest and you can remove the seat pad and the tray. It can take children up to five years old.
