Uppababy Vista review

B Loves: super-stylish and amazingly adaptable as your family grows

Uppababy is the American brand that has gained a loyal following in the UK. With its stylish and well-built products, it is a good buy for parents who are looking for both practicality and fashion-forward appearances.

Carrycot: There is a really nice carrycot suitable from birth to six months that you can click onto the chassis to use for a newborn – this can also be used on the Cruz pushchair. It can be used for overnight sleeping, so it’s great for visiting relatives and it has a ventilated base and a good quality mattress with a breathable, water resistant cover. The mattress’ cover is made from organic fabric and can be machine washed. In the carrycot’s UPV5+ hood is a ventilated panel to allow for good airflow – especially good in hot weather – and the handle is incorporated into the hood and makes it easy to carry. There is also an extendable sun visor to keep your baby in the shade when you’re out. The carrycot releases from the chassis quickly using a single-hand mechanism and comes with a rain cover.

Seat: Once your baby reaches six months, you can use the pushchair’s seat unit. This is roomy and will hold quite a large and tall child – especially so as the hood can be re-positioned to a higher position once your child is too tall for the original position. The seat should last until your child is around three years old and there is a good, adjustable harness in it with pads for the shoulders; it reclines using a lever on the back of the seat into one of five positions. The position of the seat is quite high, which makes it great for use in a café instead of a highchair. It faces the front or the rear. The bumper bar is covered in real leather, which will wear well and improve with a patina of age and it can be opened from either side for easy access to your child or can be taken off all together. The leg rest adjusts (four positions) to give a comfortable position for your child’s legs. There is an included rain cover for the seat too.

Chassis: The pushchair is incredibly easy to push and although it is not as light as some, the additional weight means that it is sturdy and durable, especially when you come to turning it into a double pushchair. It is made from aluminium and magnesium for strength. The handle, which is covered with real leather, is adjustable and can be moved between 101 and 108cm. It can be adjusted with one hand and is good for taller parents. The chassis can be easily folded and you can leave the seat on it when you fold it. It locks when folded and stands on its own. The shopping basket is one of the largest on the market and will hold lots of gear for a day out. You can choose a silver or black chassis.

Wheels: These are solid so there are no punctures and the front wheels swivel to make it easy to steer. The front and rear wheels have suspension to make the ride even smoother and can be removed when you want to store the pushchair or get it in the boot.

Extras: You can add extra elements for twins or when you have a second child. So you could add an additional carrycot, seat unit, rumble seat or car seat. You can even take three children along, with PiggyBack ride-on board.

Colours: Spenser (brown and yellow check on grey), William (steel grey), Bryce (white), Jake (black), Henry (ice blue), Emmett (pale green), Jordan (grey) and Gregory (blue-grey).
