The luxury British childrenswear brand has announced its support for the charity supporting sick and disabled children
The charity Theodora was established in 1994 by brothers Jan and André Poulie in memory of their mother Théodora.
The charity brings joy to sick and disabled children in hospital and was inspired by André’s own experience of spending many months in hospital as a small child. He recounts the experience as being a scary and daunting time, but recalls the fun and laughter his mother’s upbeat visits brought him. With this memory in mind, Jan and André came up with the concept of ‘Giggle Doctors’, who visit sick and disabled children in hospital, to give them a little respite and distraction from the distress of a hospital stay.
Rachel Riley will be donating £1 from the sale of all heart-themed garments to Theodora from the Autumn / Winter 2019 season, purchased either online or in-store, and will invite customers to match the donation.
“I am delighted to be supporting a wonderful charity like Theodora and I hope that by working with them we can help raise awareness of the amazing work they do, comments Rachel. “Our philosophy at Rachel Riley is about bringing joy to children, which is why we feel so aligned with the charity. Having spent some time in hospital when I was a child, I have strong memories of that time, and I know I would have loved a visit from a Giggle Doctor. I am pleased that we are able to support this worthwhile cause and shine a light on the work they do for children in hospital.”
