Best wishes flood in for Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their baby boy
The birth has been announced of the latest member of the Royal family – a baby son for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It had been reported that HRH Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had been planning for a home birth. Her mother Doria Ragland had flown over from the USA to be with her daughter.
However, with the baby being a week or so overdue, the decision was made to take the Duchess to one of London’s private maternity units, where she gave birth to a little boy yesterday. The Duke was beside his wife’s bed and spoke to reporters later on, saying he was ‘overjoyed’ with his new baby. He also paid tribute to his wife, saying: “Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most incredible experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension but we’re both absolutely thrilled and so greatful for the love and support out there.”
Politicians and celebrities rushed to congratulate the couple, with an especially touching tribute coming from New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, who announced that her Government will donate to a group that supplies baby boxes for poorer families, while 10 native New Zealand trees will also be planted to honour the new baby.
Many congratulations to Harry and Meghan!
