Joolz Aer Review

B Loves: quality touches and great fold and unfold

There are now quite a few airline-compliant mini strollers on the market and whether or not you have a jet set lifestyle, they can be a handy addition to your parenting arsenal. For holidays abroad, they are an absolute delight, as you keep the pushchair with you at all times, even on the plane. No missing pushchair when you come through security, no having to take a large and bulky stroller with you and best of all, a great place for your baby to sit and sleep while you are away.

Joolz is a premium brand and this little buggy doesn’t let them down on quality and it’s one of the most luxurious of airline strollers. As with all Joolz products, the packaging is recyclable and can be used for a craft project first!

Seat: The seat is a fairly good size and has good padding, which will keep your little one comfortable. There is a good harness that can be easily adjusted above the shoulder – no need to take it out and re-thread it, or tackle complicated buckles. The harness comes together in one central buckle and each strap does up individually; there are shoulder pads for comfort. The Aer comes in three colours; Refined Black, Mighty Green and Delightful Grey. There is a good sized hood that will protect your baby from the sun, which has a mesh window on the rear that does two jobs – you will be able to take a peek at your little one when they are sleeping, and it also allows for improved air flow on hotter days. There is no leg support with the standard pushchair but you can add on a leg rest (see extras, below). The recline is with a zip and sliders at the back of the seat and though it does not go completely flat, it has a comfortable position so can be used from six months.  It may be a bit more difficult to do the zip back up with a child in the seat, especially a heavier toddler, but letting it down for a nap is easy.

Chassis: The chassis is seek and black and slim with a comfortable leatherette handlebar and a compact size and shape. The basket underneath is actually quite a good size for such a small pushchair and will hold a changing bag or some toys and shopping. Folding the stroller is as quick and easy as you’d want for a travel pushchair. Simply locate the button on the handlebar, engage it and push the lower button too and the whole thing folds down in one simple movement: unfolding is just as easy and it’s flipped out and ready to go in seconds. It has its own storage bag, which would be useful to take with you and store it in when you’re on the plane. Also, if you only use the pushchair when you go away, you can use the bag to store the pushchair when not using it. There is also a strap that you can use to carry the pushchair when you are holding your baby.

Wheels: Again, for such a small pushchair, the spoked wheels are a fairly good size and work smoothly. They are all the same size and have a handy reflective strip around them to help protect you and your baby when the evenings are dark. They can be locked in the forward position or be released to spin through 360 degrees, to make it easy to tackle corners in small shops.

Extras: A rain cover comes as standard. Add a leatherette bumper bar £34.95), a leg rest (£24.95), a footmuff for colder weather (£84.95) or a honeycomb blanket in one of several soft colours (£49.95) to complete your strolling experience.
