Cybex Priam Review

B Loves: Comfortable, versatile and lots of items to add to make it personal. Looks great too.

Seat: You get a choice of seats with the Priam; either you can choose the Luxe seat, which lies flat and can be used from birth up to around three years, with a smooth, one-handed recline. It’s a generous and comfortably padded seat that can face the front or the rear and is easy to click onto and off of the chassis. Alternatively, you might choose the 2-in1 Light seat, which transforms into a bassinet. Though slightly less well padded, this is a very versatile choice if you don’t want to use an additional carrycot, though you can add a carrycot if you like (see below, under Extras). The SPF 50+ hood is generous and is an unusual shape – almost mushroom shaped if that makes sense, which again helps this pushchair stand out. It can be made larger by unzipping an extra section. There’s a good five point harness in either seat and an adjustable footrest.

Chassis: A sleek looking chassis in a mixture of shiny chrome and black finishes, this looks just a bit different from those all-black chassis on the streets. The storage basket is quite generous and it expands when you have lots of shopping to put in it. It can be accessed from the front or the rear but is easiest to get into from the rear, especially if the footrest is down. The handle is adjustable (and has a position that’s really good for tall parents) and it is a very manoeuvrable pushchair, with tight turns possible as well as comfortable pushing. The chassis can be folded with one hand with the Luxe seat on it but not the Light (the seat must be in the forward facing position). It does not lock when folded but does stand on its own and the brake pedal is clear and easy to see on the rear bar.

Wheels: Another area where you have some great choices, the chassis can be bought with one of three sets of wheels – Light, Trekking and All Terrain. Choose the best ones for where you live and you lifestyle – or buy the Light and add Trekking or All Terrain wheels if you like long walks in the country. They all have a white reflective strip around the tyre, which looks great and helps you be seen in the dark. You can even add a pair of short skis to the front (see Extras). The wheels are quick and easy to remove if you want to store the pushchair, or if you have got lots of mud on them!

Extras: You can add a roomy carrycot for the first few months, which doubles as an occasional bed for your baby. There are other nice coordinated accessories too, such as a well-padded footmuff with cosy fleece lining, a mosquito net, matching changing bag, parasol, a cup holder. There are even skis that you can pop on in place of the front wheels, making it perfect for families who like winter sports, plus a ride-on kid board for toddlers. The raincover comes included but you will need to pay extra for car seat adaptors.
